In response to growing the brand together with our long time partner, our shoe factory in Sao Joao da Madeira, we are moving towards more environmental consciousness  with Solar Energy in June 2022. 

The core of our sustainability thinking arises from longevity. To achieve that, we want to make shoes where beautiful, timeless design and long-lasting high quality materials meet.

Solar panels produce electricity by transforming the continuous flow of energy from the sun to electricity.

No harmful emissions are released into the air when electricity is produced by solar panels.

All our shoes are manufactured in experienced factories, which offer good work conditions for their employees.

Portugal 

Our main shoe production is in a family-owned factory in Sao Joao da Madeira, Portugal, very close to the city of Porto. We have a long-term partnership with the shoe factory and we've been. working with them since 2011.

Starting from June 2022 all our shoes are manufactured in Portugal by Solar energy. We want to be as transparent as possible and therefore we are excited to move towards more sustainable future.

"Solar energy is a long term investment for my shoe factory. I am so happy and proud of them for this new sustainable step", Terhi says.

The shoe factory installed rooftop solar system including 52 panels which will now produce approximately 70% of the daily energy consumption at the factory. Solar energy is the next step in Terhi Pölkki brand's sustainable guidelines and values. 

All shoes are manufactured from materials and raw materials approved by EU legislation.
